Industrial Designer
Hello! I’m Nidhi, a home goods designer with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). I have over 3 years of professional experience and worked globally across the Unites States, India, and Dubai, giving me a broad understanding of how different markets operate.
When I design, I think about the thrill a product can spark- that moment of delight when a piece becomes a conversation starter. I imagine the experiences my designs will create for people, and the excitement when someone asks, “Where did you find this?”
My Design Expertise:
Product Design & Development
I design across product categories like seating, tables, storage, and decorative objects. Creating concept sketches, 3D models using Rhino and KeyShot, and technical orthographic drawings. I coordinate with manufacturers and prepare detailed shop drawings to ensure production feasibility.
Design Direction
I develop moodboards according to seasonal concepts that reflect brand identity and resonate with end users. This includes building visual storytelling tools that guide design direction.
Material Exploration
I have a strong understanding of wood, metal, glass, ceramics, textiles, and mixed materials. I’m passionate about sustainable materials, eco-conscious processes, and finishes that elevate both aesthetics and function.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
I coordinate with design engineering, sourcing, and project management teams to drive alignment and efficient timelines. I’m comfortable leading design reviews, using project management tools and managing communications with vendors.
Prototyping & Technical Development
Proficient in developing prototypes, working hands-on with materials, and refining forms for proportions and scale. I create detailed spec sheets, shop drawings, and renderings to support accurate manufacturing and quality control.
Software Skills
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino and KeyShot. Additionally, proficient in making original illustrations using procreate and illustrator, recoloring existing artworks along with pattern repeats.
